Warriors acquire D’angelo Russell in sign and trade deal

The Golden State Warriors, five-time reigning Western Conference champions acquired D’angelo Russell from the Brooklyn Nets in a sign and trade deal late Sunday night. Earlier Sunday, Kevin Durant, who tore his Achilles in game five of the 2019 NBA Finals announced on his instagram page that he would be signing a max contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Once the Warriors had gotten news of this, they had a hole to fill and so they traded for Russell. Unfortunately, once this deal was complete, the Warriors were over the cap and had to trade 2015 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies after six seasons with the Warriors and three championships with the team. Also joining Kevin Durant in Brooklyn, is Kyrie Irving, who also signed a max deal worth 141 million dollars over 4 years, and Deandre Jordan, who signed a 4 year, 40 million dollar deal.
