Top 5 Songs of 2017
July 12, 2017
Personally I think so far 2017 has been ok for new music. My favorite song from this year is “Believer” by Imagine Dragons but my favorite song ever is “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”
5) “It Ain’t Me” by Kygo, Selena Gomez came out February 15, 2017. Uploaded by Kygo Official Vevo. There are two versions an audio, and the official has 67 million views and the audio has 2.4 million likes. In official video, Kygo crashes on motorcycle with Selena Gomez and goes to hospital in critical condition. Now he is trying to find himself again. Selena is now nervous and sad nearby Kygo’s bed while he is in coma. It has Kygo dancing inside his coma with the doctors and Selena are dancing to the music. Now Selena’s feelings have changed from sadness to happiness. Overall, the video is cool because all sound, color and settings. “I give it a 65/100.”
4) “I want something just like this” by Coldplay and Chainsmokers. It was published on February 22, 2017. This video is really cool because they used oil pastel along with google slides to make it like a cartoon. The start of the song is about a guy who is reading about Achilles and his gold, Hercules and his gifts, Spider Man’s control and Batman and his fists. He doesn’t think he is on that list, but his girlfriend isn’t looking for a superhero, she is looking for something just like this. I give it a 75/100
3) Symphony by clean bandit. (Feat. Zara Larsson) It was published on March 17, on the clean bandit youtube site. It over three hundred twenty eight million views. When the video starts it has a man reading a book, then he leaves on his bike. It has a symphony playing as he is riding. It is soon cut off to show that that the man on the bike was hit by a car. It has what looks like someone who is related mourning him. The rest of the video is the man is remembering when he was alive while the symphony goes on in the back. I would over all rate this song 82/100.
2) That’s What I Like, by Bruno Mars was released on March 1, and gained over 734,000,000 views. The entire video is Bruno mars singing and dancing while white paint illustrates the song. It’s about what he likes. I would give this video a 50/100 because it is overplayed and the video is boring. But you can’t blame Bruno, as proven in previous songs, Uptownfunk and 24 carrot magic.
1) Shape of You, By Ed Sheeran has about 1,800,000,000 views. This song plus music video is about Ed being a boxer, while his girlfriend is also a boxer and they are in a relationship. One of my favorite things about this video is some of the stretches., another thing I like is how he changed his style. He usually just dances in these videos. But this is different. I would rate this song 90/100, because this video is different and it’s not the kind of song that you see everyday.
