Battling with Bella Vista

On Nov. 6, the Jesuit High School Marauders soccer team battled in a close game against the Bella Vista Broncos. A loud crowd on both sides heightened the intensity of the game, hyping up the players to perform at their optimal level.

The Marauders had a slow start, which was closely matched by the Broncos. The first half was a close battle with the score being 1-1, fifteen minutes into the game. Not long after the start of the game, sophomore Lucas Churchill took a hard tackle to the ankle and went down. Somebody else would have to step up off the bench. The Jesuit players stepped up to the challenge and proved their worth. By halftime, the Marauders had picked up their game and scored a second goal making the score in Jesuit’s favor at 2-1.

A quick pep talk with Head Coach Paul Rose got the Marauders focused and on point. The Marauders took this momentum from half time and pressured the Broncos hard. This pressure turned the tables against the Broncos and created two goals for the Marauders. Now the game was 4-1, but the Broncos and Marauders had a fire in their eyes as they fought hard until the last whitle sounded. In the end, Marauders to score were Senior Diego Buenrostro (2), Junior Nick Iwasa, and Senior Nicholas Kolokotronis.

The Marauders are ready for their next game on Nov. 12 for the section semi-finals against Oak Ridge High School at 3:00 p.m. Come out and support Jesuit’s soccer team as they advance toward their goal of being section champions.
