Jesuit beats Pleasant Grove in last league game

The Jesuit High School Marauders won their last game of the season, defeating Pleasant Grove High School, 48-21.

Pleasant Grove, the major underdog, entered the matchup with a 0-5 record. Jesuit, meanwhile, came in with a 4-1 record against Delta League opponents after suffering a loss versus Sheldon High School last week.

“Our guys came out strong and got the win just like we thought we would,” said receiver Kendric Bailey ’19.

The Marauders came out scorching as they scored 35 of their 48 points in the first half.

Jesuit continued their run by adding 13 points in the second half to close out the win.

Despite losing the league championship to Sheldon, Defensive Coordinator Mr. Jonathan Isaac was happy with the way his team bounced back against Pleasant Grove.

“A few things we did well were keeping our composure and being resilient through adversity,” said Coach Isaac.

The players were also happy with their team’s performance after coming off a tough loss.

“We were able to rebound after our loss, and we handled business versus Sheldon,” said wide receiver Spencer Vigil ’19.

Jesuit hopes to use this major win to boost their confidence as they head into the playoffs as they take on Woodcreek High School in round one.

The Marauders will host Woodcreek this Saturday at 1 p.m. to start their playoff run.
