Jesuit prepares for last game of regular season

A storm is brewing as the Jesuit High School varsity football team gets ready to take on the Pleasant Grove High School Eagles this Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:15 p.m. Players and coaches alike are expecting this to be a good game for Jesuit on both sides of the field.

The game will take place on the field at Sheldon High School, so the Marauders are preparing for whatever may come at them in foreign territory.

“A big part of the game is mental, so we start by focusing on what we need to improve on during the game,” said four star Outside Linebacker Laiatu Latu ’19. “Our mindset going in is pretty much just to stay focused and get the win.”

The team is hoping for a big win if they can stay focused and determined as they take on the winless Pleasant Grove Eagles.

“We have to be very disciplined and practice hard,” said receiver Spencer Vigil ’19. “We’ve had to learn from our mistakes in order to win more games this season.”

Defensive Backs Coach Isaiah Frey ’08 has a similar insight as to what the mindset needs to be for the Marauders this weekend.

“We just have to win; that’s the main mindset we have right now,” said Coach Frey. “Pleasant Grove is gonna come out and play hard. They haven’t had a win this year, so this is like a championship, and we need to treat it as such and play to their level.”This game is a make-or-break one for Jesuit football, but Jesuit seems prepared for victory as they get ready to show off their fine tuned team. Come out and support the Marauders on Friday!
