Gearing up for the Grizzlies
A storm is brewing as the Jesuit High School varsity football team gets ready to take on the Granite Bay High School Grizzlies this Friday, August 31st at 4:30 p.m. Players and coaches alike are expecting this to be a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The game will take place on Jesuit’s home field, and the Marauders are preparing for whatever may be thrown at them.
“Most of the game is mental, so I start by focusing on what I need to do during the game,” said Laiatu Latu ’19. “Before the game, I usually put my headphones in, put on some music to get me pumped up and then get hyped when I walk out with my team.”
The team is expected to perform at a high level as long as they can stay strong and focused for the entirety of the game.
“If everyone does their job efficiently, which I know they can, we will do great,” said Carlos. “Why would I be worried when I have amazing players like Harvego, Cannan, Vigil, Cunningham, Latu, etc? The list goes on and on.”
Head varsity coach Mr. Marlon Blanton has a similar opinion about the team’s preparedness for this upcoming game.
“Our goal is: no matter who we play, we will be ready,” said Coach Blanton. “We will continually work to play disciplined and inspiring football.”
This will be an important game for senior players because they’ve yet to beat Granite Bay in their Jesuit football careers. But Jesuit seems geared for a victory this year as it comes time to show off their fine tuned teamwork.Follow The Plank on Twitter @jhsplank to receive in game updates as the Marauders take on the Grizzlies this Friday at 4:30 p.m.
