Surrounded by sports

Mr. Sam Hilder ’09 is a former Washington Nationals Account Executive of Ticket Services and is the current Manager of Ticket Operations at Gametime United; he is also an alumnus of Jesuit High School and a successful innovator.

While at Jesuit, Mr. Hilder participated in various sports, clubs, and activities on and off campus. On campus, he played on the first Jesuit Lacrosse Team in 2006, worked as a counselor for Academics Plus for five years, and was an active member of the Galley Crew.

“Sam [was] very energetic, really positive, very responsible, hardworking, and a great man to be around and work with,” said Director of Admissions Mr. Josh Palone ’99.

Beyond the campus, Mr. Hilder also volunteered at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for his immersion, where he ran a Bible camp and worked maintenance at Red Cloud Indian School.

“He was a very proactive guy, and you could just tell that he was going to go on and do great things,” said Varsity Basketball Head Coach Jon Rotz.

After graduating from Jesuit in 2009, Mr. Hilder went on to attend Gonzaga University, where he continued playing lacrosse and graduated in 2013 with a degree in Sports Management. He furthered his education at Georgetown University, where he worked hard to earn his master’s degree in Sports Industry Management.

After his time at Georgetown, Mr. Hilder began working for the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball team as the Account Executive of Ticket Operations. He later made the bold decision to join the startup company Gametime United, a mobile marketplace app that allows fans to buy and sell tickets to sports and music events.

“We were founded in 2012, and our headquarters are in San Francisco,” said Mr. Hilder. “Gametime is enhancing the buying and selling experience by curating listings to provide the best options based on price and location, including photographs of the view from one’s seat and tickets delivered directly to your phone.”

Mr. Hilder has gone above and beyond in his career since graduating from Jesuit. He stands as a great example for all Jesuit students as he continues to shine with his strong dedication, hard work, and innovation.
