Jesuit takes on the Davis Blue Devils

On Friday, Sept. 30 at 7:15pm the Jesuit High School Varsity Football Team takes on the Davis High School Blue Devils away from home as Jesuit seeks their fourth victory of the season.

Fresh off the 35-20 win against Pleasant Grove High School, the Marauders look to extend their win streak and repeat last year’s result of defeating the Blue Devils, 42-26.

The team has been working hard in practice and is raring to go.

“Any team’s going to have to beat any [other] team,” said Head Varsity Football Coach Marlon Blanton. “So if we don’t perform well and practice well, they can beat us, but if we do what we’re supposed to do, we’ll have a good chance at being victorious.”

This year the Blue Devils  squeezed out a win, 16-14, against the Elk Grove Thundering Herd, a team that defeated Jesuit 63-14 last year; however, the impressive win will not discourage the Marauders, who have high expectations this season.

“I think we can win the league this year and go to Sections,” said running back Lorenzo Burkes ‘18. “I expect the team to go into this game hyped and believing in the game. You’re going to see a lot of pouty faces [from Davis].”

The Marauders have been looking forward to this game and are expecting a lot from themselves, but their opponents won’t lay down and take a loss: this is the homecoming game for the Davis Blue Devils, so they will be working hard to get their second win.
