Taking on the Herd
On Friday, April 24, the Marauders of Jesuit High School‘s Varsity Baseball Team will take on the Thundering Herd of Elk Grove High School’s Varsity Baseball Team in a Delta League match up.
The Marauders are coming into the game with 15-5 record and are currently riding a six game win streak, looking to push it to seven when they travel to the home of the Thundering Herd.
With a 12-7 record, Elk Grove has had a very solid season in a very competitive league but are especially looking to pick up a big home game against a well-versed Jesuit team.
Senior Team Manager Eric McLaughlin thinks that the Marauders can pick up the win if they execute on the field.
“I think we’ll get the win if we play well. Elk Grove is well coached and Nick Madrigal is one of the best players in the section so this game could definitely be a challenge,” Eric said.
Despite a heavy road schedule at the beginning of the season, the Thundering Herd boast a 3-1 home record meet by an equally impressive 6-2 road record for the Marauders.
Senior pitcher Brett Gieseke thinks that the team has had an impressive season this year.
“Our team has been very impressive this year. We have won some very tough games against good teams and hope that we can continue how we’ve been playing for the rest of the season. Elk Grove is one of the better teams in our league this year. If we play well as a team like how we did when we were in Anaheim we should be able to compete well against them,” Brett said.
The Marauders are looking forward to the challenge. With the season now in full swing, they are looking to pick up every possible win, and a victory over a tough Elk Grove team will set the stage for an impressive run for the end of the season.
