Marauder football is heading to Levi’s

The Jesuit High School Marauders will take on the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at Levi’s Stadium on Friday, October 10. Jesuit has won four straight games after a devastating loss to De La Salle at UC Berkeley’s Memorial Stadium at the start of this season. Jesuit is one of the first high school teams to have the opportunity to play at the newly constructed Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

The Marauders were originally supposed to play De La Salle at Levi’s Stadium as their first game of the year, but the location of the game was changed due to issues with the turf inside the stadium. Now that the issues are resolved, the Marauders look to build upon their four game win streak, but face a tough task as the Thundering Herd possess an identical win-loss record to that of the Marauders. Big performances from senior quarterback Cole Brownholtz and junior running back Beau Bisharat could be the key to coming out of Levi’s Stadium with a huge victory.

Momentum is certainly on the side of the Marauders, as they had a strong showing at Davis High School last week, where they jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead.

The pre-game jitters might be a little stronger before this game, because this is one of the biggest stages that this year’s varsity team will get to play on. The Marauders will have to set aside the butterflies and just play their game, as they have been doing for the past 4 games.

This could be a defining moment for the team this year, as the pressure of Levi Stadium will certainly elevate the game for both teams. In the matchup, getting and keeping an early lead will be key to a Jesuit victory.  This strategy was the key to success in last week’s game against Davis.

If the defense can stand tough and stop the powerful Thundering Herd offense, then that will allow the Marauders offense to be able to dictate the pace of the game. By winning 4 straight games, Jesuit has proved that they are a top team in the section and can compete with any other team. The goal for the team is a section championship, and if they can get it done against Elk Grove on Friday night under the lights, they could change that goal to an expectation.
