Rounding up the herd

Jesuit High School has been nearly unstoppable after overcoming a rough start to the season. The Marauders have won their last four games, currently standing 2-0 in the Delta League after defeating Cosumnes Oaks High School last week in a 37-0 blowout.

The Marauders feel confident that they can continue their winning streak this Friday at Elk Grove High School, but they’re not letting that get to their heads.

“Once we win a game, our team gets 24 hours of celebration before we switch our focus to the next opponent,” said running back Cade Cunningham ’19.

Like Jesuit, Elk Grove is coming into the game off a win. In order to stop Elk Grove’s momentum, the Marauders are focused on defending the Thundering Herd’s offense.

“I’m most excited about our defense showing out and proving that we can stop their run as well as pass game,” said safety Nick Blake ’20.

Keeping the win streak is essential for the Marauder’s confidence as they make a push for the playoffs. Players like linebacker Laiatu Latu ’19 remember playing Elk Grove last year and are excited to show out Friday night.

“We’re motivated to keep our win streak and beat Elk Grove,” said Laiatu. “It was an exciting game last year and I cant wait till Friday.”

The Marauders play the Thundering Herd at Elk Grove this Friday, Oct. 5, at 7:15 p.m. Come out, be loud, and support the team.
