Students perform in drama’s production of Spamalot.

The Jesuit Drama Program celebrated its 50th anniversary in the 2016-2017 season. The program usually does two or three productions a season. The shows they did last season were Spamalot and 44 Plays for 44 Presidents.

“I like to think about what’s going on in the world, what’s going on in our country, our city and state, what’s going on at Jesuit, and then pick something I think speaks to that, is relevant to that,”  Mr. Edward Trafton said.

In addition, Mr. Trafton teaches English at Jesuit. One of the classes he teaches is called “Hero’s Journey”, and is a favorite among Senior students.

Current Academics Plus Director and Director of Admissions, Coach Joshua Palone ‘99 has said that Mr. Trafton was his favorite teacher when he went to Jesuit.

Throughout his time as an English teacher and Drama Artistic Director at Jesuit High School, Mr. Ed Trafton ‘84 has seen many students and productions come and go.

It’s an honor,”  Mr.Trafton said. “[The students] are enthusiastic and open…when they go on in the art after they graduate, we’re all so happy for them and so proud of them.”

Mr. Trafton does a lot of things when it comes to his productions, including auditions, casting, and coordinating the tech. Mr. Trafton welcomes all to become part of the Jesuit theatre family.

The Black Box at Jesuit Drama is an open place where all are welcome,” Mr. Trafton said. “Come see us this fall! We’d love to have you.”
