Jesuit seniors lead Marauders against the Wildcats
The Jesuit High School Marauders (18) hope to rise above their .500 league-record of 2-2 against the Franklin High School Wildcats (9) this Saturday at 2:00 P.M.
It is the Senior Game for the Marauders this Saturday. Before the game commences, every Senior player will walk out of the inflatable Marauder Helmet with their family, and they will be greeted with postboards designed by their families decorated with designs and football photos.
“It has been a great time playing football for Jesuit all four years, so I am really excited to take a look back on Senior Day, and then walk out with my family,” said linebacker and kicker Lucas Thayer ‘16.
The Marauders’ offense is averaging 26 points a game compared to the Wildcats 25 points per game. Jesuit is also leading the Wildcats in total yards per game with 339 yards against the Wildcat’s 296 yards.
“It’s going to be a shootout offensively, Franklin has a solid offensive attack, so we will need to have a strong rushing and passing attack this Saturday,” said wide receiver Christian Dyer ‘16.
Jesuit’s defense is coming into the game off of their second shutout of the season: a victory against Sheldon High School 36-0. Jesuit has focused extremely hard this week on carrying their defensive success into the Senior Game.
“After really buckling down on our game film from last week along with Franklin’s film, and pushing ourselves on the field, I am really excited to get back out there on defense this week,” said linebacker Bailey Abercrombie ‘16.
With 3 league games left until playoffs including the one this Saturday against the Wildcats, the Marauders only have one loss to spare to keep their playoff hopes alive.
