Jesuit takes on the thundering herd

After beating unranked Davis High School for the homecoming game last Saturday, the Jesuit Marauders (19) will take on Elk Grove High School (2) this Friday at 7:15 P.M. at Elk Grove.

Jesuit, with a 3-2 record, looks for their second league win in their matchup against the Thundering Herd, who are fresh off of a 42-7 victory against previously second ranked Grant High School.

Elk Grove’s running back, Ryan Robards ’16, scored 6 touchdowns against Grant, and will be a handful for the Marauders.

“There is no “I” in “team”, but with that said, he is a very talented player on both sides of the ball,” said tight end and linebacker Bailey Ambercrombie ’16.

With the season in full swing, the Marauders look to make their mark on the Delta League, and improve upon their league record of 1-1.

“It is imperative that we buckle down for league play, because there is little to no room for error in our season now.” said offensive and defensive tackle Conner Bellinger ’17.

After the opening 3 games of the football season, game attendance has dropped a huge amount because of the hot Saturday afternoon games, so the players are excited to play under the Friday night lights.

“I understand that it can be difficult to sit in the heat on a Saturday afternoon, so I am really excited to see The Galley Crew in full force on a Friday night under the lights.” said kicker and linebacker Lucas Thayer ’16.

The players are hoping for The Galley Crew to match the intensity of the game this Friday to help them persevere and win.
