Inception of a new tradition

September 23, 2015

“Tonight, we start what I hope might be a tradition,” said Mr. Ted Hornback, English Department Chair, to the hundreds of Jesuit High School Marauders and Saint Francis High School Troubadours that had sprawled out on the cool grass by the pool to see Ghostbusters in Jesuit’s first ever movie night on September 18th.

The event started at 6:00 pm with fresh tacos from local food trucks. Then at dusk, the students gathered in the grassy amphitheater in front of the pool and received a brief introduction to horror from Mr. Hornback.

By the incessant laughs throughout the event, one could surmise that it was a success and most students seemed to agree.

“Solid,” said Patrick Caslin ‘17.

Other students gave longer, but equally praiseful reviews.

“I thought the event was really cool. It was great to be able to hang out with Jesuit friends on the weekends and come together as a school outside of Holy Bowl,” said Emily Bush ‘17 , a Saint Francis student.

“I mean, not everyone is gonna be quiet and listen to the movie, but it’s fun I like hanging out with people,” said Rylee Arnott ‘17, a Saint Francis student.

The executive council and all of those involved in the organization of the Movie Night did a thorough job arranging the event and hope that they started a trend that will live on for many years as a Jesuit High School tradition.

One of the best parts of the event was also one of its simplest: “everyone being together,”said Severio Bernardi ‘19.
