Jesuit falls to Granite Bay in football
Jesuit High School’s Varsity Football Team lost their first non-conference game to Granite Bay High School Friday night. GBHS (No. 12) upset the Jesuit Marauders (No. 6) 21 to 7.
The Grizzlies led the Marauders in the first quarter after GBHS linebacker Ryan MacIntosh caught an interception and returned it for a four yard touchdown. The pass thrown by Jesuit quarterback Bailey Abercrombie ‘16.
The score remained 7 to 0 until the fourth quarter. Then, GBHS running back Isaiah Lewis caught a thirty-four yard pass to score later in the same quarter; GBHS strong safety Sam Cusano intercepted a forty-yard pass for a touchdown.
Towards the end of the fourth, Jesuit senior running back Beau Bisharat scored a four-yard touchdown for the Marauders, set up by his 57 yard run earlier in the drive. The Stanford commit ran 77 yards that night and gave the Marauders the first touchdown of the 2015 season.
The Marauders started the game off slowly, although Jesuit Varsity Football Assistant Coach Jonathan Isaac was pleased with the fourth quarter resurgence of the team.
“I think our effort towards the end of the game [were] getting better, we were getting our feet wet,” Coach Isaac ‘16 said .
“We (the team) are just going to come back next week. We are going to want it more, we are going to be more coachable and we are going to play as a team, and we are going to play for each other,” wide receiver and defensive back Christian Dyer ‘16 said.
