The new campaign begins

On Saturday, Nov. 15, the Jesuit High School Marauders will face the Gregori High School Jaguars in the first round of the 2014 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section High School Football Playoffs. Jesuit is the second seed, and Gregori is the fifthteenth seed. The Marauders are coming into the game with a record of 8-2 while Gregori has a record of 7-3.

Jesuit will be entering their first playoff game of this campaign after coming off of theirs first defeat in league.  In came last week on Saturday Nov. 8 when the Marauders were defeated by the Grant High School Pacers. Jesuit really struggled against Grant and lost by a final score of 52-14.

Gregori suffered a loss to Downey High School  last Friday night. The final score was 42-21, and after a big first quarter by the Downey Knights the game was out of reach for the Jaguars. Gregori will be looking to avoid losing two games straight, when they face Jesuit in the first round of the playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Marauders, they have not played a common opponent with the Gregori Jaguars, which will make the preparation tougher for Jesuit as they will have little knowledge going into the game about the style of football that Gregori plays.

Jesuit is looking rebound to their loss last week to Grant High School in a similar fashion to when the Marauders lost to De La Salle High School in the first game of the season. They responded by winning their next eight games. If the Marauders can repeat a similar pattern, they will meet the Folsom High School Bulldogs in Section finals.

The game is scheduled for Saturday Nov. 15 at 1p.m. at Jesuit’s Loyola Field Stadium. It should be a good opportunity for the Marauders to bounce back. Come out at support the team as Jesuit looks to make a run to win the 2014 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section High School Football Playoffs.
