Strong first half sets up victory
In a blowout at Davis High School Blue Devils, the Jesuit High School Marauders came out on top of the Blue Devils with a score of 47-15. The Marauders came into the game with a 3-1 record following an opening season loss to De La Salle. With this statement victory, Jesuit reaffirmed themselves as one of the top teams in the section.
Thanks to a strong start from the Marauders offense, Jesuit jumped out to an early 28-0 lead by the end of the first half. Junior running back Beau Bisharat opened up the scoring with a 1 yard touchdown run with 5:53 left in the first quarter. In the second quarter, a 15 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Cole Brownholtz to senior wide receiver Isaiah Bailey put the Marauders up 14-0. Isaiah with a 65 yard punt return later in the second quarter stretched the lead to 21-0 for the Jesuit. To close out the first half, Cole threw a 59 yard touchdown pass to Beau to give the Marauders a commanding 28-0 lead. Second half touchdowns from Beau and senior wide receiver Khayri Carter gave the Marauders the 47-15 win.
With the win, Jesuit now sits at 4-1 on the season, with a 2-0 record in league play. The Marauders now prepare for next week’s game against Elk Grove High School at Levi’s Stadium. The Elk Grove Thundering Herd also hold a record of 4-1, creating an interesting matchup for the Marauders. After the change of venue from the original Levi’s Stadium game against De La Salle, Jesuit scheduled another matchup with Elk Grove at the new Santa Clara stadium. This will be the biggest venue for the Marauders this season, reflecting the game’s significance.
This Marauder team is supremely talented, and after a tough loss to De La Salle to start the season, they look to bounce back and go undefeated for the rest of the year. Next week’s game will be crucial to the success of this season.
